He is a lecturer with over 30 years of university teaching experience in public and private schools, with hundreds of classes, thousands of teaching hours and many generations of students that he has taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels (masters, doctors). He shares some lessons to help students study well at the university level.
To achieve university results after about 4 years of sitting in school, students often wonder: How can I get my work highly appreciated by teachers or lecturers, and give high scores? How can I finish a course, be able to apply knowledge in life, and in work after graduation? Is it too difficult to study well? Is it too difficult to achieve a good or excellent grade? And many other questions.
This article shares with university students some awareness, skills, and knowledge so that they can find the most suitable learning method for themselves, but still achieve results and be evaluated at the level they expect and become a good student after 4 years of studying.
First of all, students need to clearly define their own learning goals: Study to gain knowledge? Study to access new information? Study to understand modern technology? Study to know how to do business? Study to bring joy to life? Study to make parents happy? Study to have a solid position in society? Study to be able to find a job? Study to have a stable income after graduation? and hundreds of other questions.
Students should remember, learning goals will be the motivation to help you strive to learn and try. Studying at university without clearly defining what you are studying for and why you have to study, you will definitely be confused, disoriented, and will not know which subjects to study and how to study.
The subjects that students choose to study, in addition to the compulsory subjects or credits, completely depend on their learning goals. When you clearly define the subjects, it seems that you have outlined a clear path and will follow that path for about 4 years of study to the destination of graduating from the major as you expect.
Participating in classes, interacting with friends through group exercises, communicating directly or indirectly (via Team, Zalo, Zoom) with lecturers are very necessary, helping you understand the lessons more easily and bringing many positive emotions and energy, easily overcoming boredom and monotony in studying, solving questions about exercises, learning more lessons.
Homework seems simple, but it is a very effective tool to help students consolidate their knowledge, prepare for midterm and final exams. Doing homework, you will understand what knowledge you lack, the calculation formulas that you are not sure of and do not understand clearly, the situations that you cannot solve by yourself. AI and online information are a valuable source of documents for students who know how to use it intelligently and scientifically. If you ask AI and ask for information online for just a small question, a simple math problem, a real situation, this way of learning will make your brain stop thinking, become passive, rigid and at some points you will no longer think logically and deductively. You will copy information from AI and from the website like a machine that does not know how to judge right - wrong, reasonable - unreasonable. You will write essays that are dozens of pages long, but the paragraphs lack information, the sentences are empty and the person evaluating you, the lecturer, will not know what to base on to evaluate and score you because it is not all your intelligence, your thoughts written but just copied from robots and computers. AI only helps you simplify the kitchen work in studying such as: designing a slide that looks more eye-catching and attractive for you, helping you translate some scientific terms, giving you some ideas to choose from, reducing the time you have to sit in front of the computer. But it is also AI that makes you dependent on the machine, makes you subjective and dependent, you study without focus and without a plan and in the end, you will not be able to achieve the expected results. The most dangerous thing when you are too dependent on AI and social networks is that your brain will be empty after 4 years of university and you will not know what to do, how to make decisions, how to determine strategies for yourself and where you will work. You cannot even fully answer the simple and everyday questions that your parents asked in the field of expertise and major that you have studied.
Health is an indispensable factor. The old saying goes: "Only with food can you practice morality", which means you must have health to study well.
In short, so that you can study well, achieve your goals and be satisfied with those results, students should act correctly from the first day they step into the university gate. Determining your study goals is a priority. Participate in studying and interact with your friends and lecturers as much as possible.
I wish you all good study and success as you expect!
